Scott Christopher Murray is an accomplished singer/songwriter and a veteran of the acoustic music scene. Raised in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Scott grew up absorbing its rich story-telling tradition and Appalachian music legacy. His first album "The Old Man Dreams," a collection of original material, was a regional success.

Scott moved to Nashville in the early 1990's. While there, he opened for Emmylou Harris, Bruan Bowers, Goose Creek Symphony and Suzy Bogguss. He also shared the state with Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Shelby Lynn, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea and Henry Gross. Scott Murray was named Grand Prize winner at the Gumtree Folk Festival, and was a regular performer at Townes Van Zandt's bar in Nashville.

What is a house concert? A house concert is a chance to experience music by local musicians in a warm and intimate environment. It's when someone opens up their home and invites you into their living room to share in a performance by a few of our talented musicians.

Why would anyone do this? There are few venues where people can go to experience great music in a close and friendly environment. Great music makes us happy and we want to share that with others around us. These events allow us to give exposure to some incredible Virginia and traveling musicians that are a part of our worldwide network whose talents we truly believe in and wish to help promote.

How much does this cost? We have a "recommended donation" of $15-25 per person but we realize every situation is different and we can certainly make concessions to fit your individual needs.

Chelsea McBee - Born and raised in Shepherdstown, WV, McBee quotes the old-time WV banjo tunes that she learned as major influences in her style of playing and her songwriting. She began playing claw-hammer banjo in the summer of 2005 and has been working on traditional tunes as well as writing original songs since then. Her unique, inviting voice pairs well with the distinctive sound of her 5-string.

House Concerts are a growing phenomenon across the country designed to bring an audience and a musical artist closer together. Here's the deal: We invite a musician to play at our house. Wild Blue Yonder

Melissa Wade, from Knoxville, on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, fronts the band and writes most of their original material. She is also an accomplished pianist and piano instructor. She brings to the band many years of performance experience in a variety of musical styles.

Philip Coward, from Knoxville, on mandolin, lead acoustic guitar and vocals, shares leadership duties in the band and contributes to their signature energetic show. He also co-writes and arranges much of the group's original material and has performed in various bands for almost 30 years, one of which toured overseas with the USO in the 1970's.

Classically-trained violinist and virtuoso fiddlers, sisters, Laura Knight and Cindy Wallace light up the band's stage show with lively fiddle tunes as well as beautiful string arrangements on their slower numbers. They have performed in many bands, including Wild Mountain Honey, and The Wallace Sisters. Their credentials also include many years at Dollywood theme park.

Chelsea McBee

Chelsea McBee is definitely new to the music scene but is quickly gaining popularity. Born and raised in Shepherdstown, WV, McBee quotes the old-time WV banjo tunes that she learned as major influences in her style of playing and her songwriting. She began playing claw-hammer banjo in the summer of 2005 and has been working on traditional tunes as well as writing original songs since then. Her unique, inviting voice pairs well with the distinctive sound of her 5-string. Artists such as Gillian Welch, Anais Mitchell, Feist, Bonnie Rait and the Indigo Girls have all inspired this young songstress. "I have always been really into female musicians. Not exclusively, but I can relate to the common thread of womanness and really admire it". McBee will get up and sing a WV tune, a catchy melody, a bare-boned a capella, and then a sultry tango piece all with the banjo. She worked with The Fox Hunt (www.myspace.com/lefoxhunt) for her debut album 'Don't Close Your Eyes'. Their WV string band energy behind McBee's lyrics make for an entertaining mix. Her tunes offer a variety of sound and heart stirring emotion, which will only serve to broaden her fan base.

Charlottesville VA Drummer

Ron Newsome, Drummer/Percussionist, and native of Philadelphia, grew up in a musical household Influenced by his Mother, a professional dancer, and his Father’s mastery of the guitar, lead to his love of percussion. Rhythm and music was a theme that began to take shape for him early on. Playing drums came naturally for Ron, who started at the age of 6 on oatmeal boxes and by the age of 10, he was playing on every piece on furniture in the house. His parents realized that buying a set of drums was not an option, if they wanted to save the rest of the furniture in the house. Ron inherited those artistic genes and by 14 years of age had his own band and bookings.

As a teenager, he studied with private instructors for many years, learning the basics to advanced techniques, and took majors in music in High School and College.

Ron is a “band” drummer. He possesses the social and musical skills necessary to glue a musical group together. He has been a member of, and, led many successful bands with his supportive professional attitude. One of the most successful Top 40 bands was "Sound Trek", which played all throughout Philadelphia for 10 years straight. After that, he played his way to Florida and joined the South West Florida Jazz Society where he had an opportunity to play and learn Jazz from many of the retired greats from the TV industry. Now a resident of Central Virginia, he brings his wealth of experience to a musically rich area.
